1. Your Bio

My name is Samantha Rybka and I have been acrobating since I was 3 years old and dancing since the age of 6. I used to dance for fun and as a hobbie, but once I started doing dance competitions and competing more, that's when the passion, determination and drive to be better kicked in!

My twin sister Teagan and I were both not born naturally flexible in the back or legs, but with the help of our mum who was an acrobat, our teachers and the determination to get better, we both worked slowly but gradually on our flexibility and technique through the years. I love all styles of dance, any opportunity to dance is a good one!

2. What 5 words explain you the best?

4 words to describe myself. Determined, passionate, quirky, fun.

3. What dreams do you have for the future?

So many!! I believe you can never have too many dreams! There are many dreams, goals and ambitions that Teagan and I both have for the future. Here are a few! ☺

- One of our craziest dreams is to one day meet and even perform as a backup act or dancers for the popstar Katy Perry! We would love to meet and also perform for Ellen degenerous!

- We have also been thinking to maybe one day have our own dance and fitness clothing line!

4. Do you have a favourite quote?

My two favourite quotes out of many!

“If you have discipline, drive and determination, nothing is impossible.”

“Don’t let fear stand in the way of your dreams.”

5. What is the most adventurous thing you can say that you have done?

Anything new and exciting or something that I am nervous about is adventurous to me. One of the most adventurous things I have done was recently when Teagan and I were in Bali we went ATVing, quad biking through the town where the balinese kids waved and smiled as we went by them onto the rocky roads, past the rice fields and into the jungle while it was pouring with rain! It was so fast and exciting! We can’t wait to go back and do it again!

6. What have you failed at before and what did you learn from this.

I believe nothing is a failure if you are willing to give it a go and give it your best shot in the first place. However as an acrobat you are constantly trying new and harder tricks that require a different set of skills, technique and strength. Therefore there are always going to be many trials, attempts and fails of the new skill/trick as it takes a while to stick the trick. Every fail or mistake I see as a learning curve, a chance to reflect and think what I need to change or do to improve to get the skill/trick.

7. Who inspires you?

Anyone and everyone who is an artist or are doing something that I look up to or think is amazing is an inspiration to me. Even singers on shows like X factor who ace an audition like Susan Boyle and Ella Henderson! Dancer wise, anyone who goes that extra length, completes a breathtaking performance or can do things that I cannot do yet. Any teacher that pushes me to be better or who challenges me with passion and support.

My mum is also a big inspiration to me as she is always there by my side supporting me and mentoring me through my journey!

8. Do you have a favourite book or movie?

I have so many! Here are a few of my favourites!!

Suddenly thirty

Mrs Doubtfire

The parent Trap

9. What 3 pieces of advice would you give for others who want to get into your field or industry?

Train safe! Slowly and gradually, listen to your body and get professionals in the field to help you.

Don’t give up! Don’t get intimidated by others or feel defeated. Dancing is a very competitive sport. Remember that everyone is different and our journeys are all different. Keep going and believe in yourself!

Stay humble!
